Land plots to be issued from Kelaa for tourism development purposes

The Tourism Ministry and Ha. Kelaa Council have signed an agreement to allocate land from Kelaa for tourism development purposes.

The agreement was signed by the Senior Policy Director Mohamed Hussaan on behalf of the Tourism Ministry, and Kelaa Council’s President Adam Gufran via a ceremony held via Zoom on Monday.

Kelaa will be issuing two plots of land measuring 10,000 sqft and twelve plots of land measuring 5,000 sqft for the development of hotels and guest houses.

Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom said the tourism development project in Kelaa would make evident the benefits of decentralization. The minister added that tourism real estate projects will take place on the two ends of Maldives, noting that Addu City Council is also preparing to award plots of land for tourism development.

The government recently awarded the development of a City Hotel in Ha. Kelaa to local construction company Fedo Investment. The hotel will be developed in a 864,414 sqft land area and its surrounding sea area.
