Maldives Police Service have stated that the dead body recently discovered on uninhabited island, V. Fohtheyo Bodufushi is linked to a Sri Lankan dinghy vessel that was drifting in Maldivian waters.
A group of woodcutters discovered the dead body on Fohtheyo Bodufushi on Tuesday morning while a drifting vessel with one aboard was rescued earlier near V. Anbaraa island.
Police said both incidents are believed to be linked. As per information received thus far, the two men set out for fishing on January 30th and are believed to have drifted into Maldivian waters. The case continues to be investigated.
