COVID-19: Baarah tally at 25, three new cases over 24 hours

The Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has stated that 25 cases of COVID-19 have been identified thus far from Ha. Baarah.

Baarah’s initial COVID-19 cases were identified on February 28 after the release sample of nine people completing home quarantine on the island tested positive for the virus. Contact tracing was then carried out, after which four additional people tested positive on March 2nd. Since then, 158 samples of contacts and those exhibiting symptoms were collected from the island. Out of these, nine samples tested positive on March 5th, and three additional cases were identified over the past 24 hours.

The Maldives has recorded over 20,000 COVID-19 cases and 64 deaths until now.
