COVID-19: 100 high-risk patients remain in home isolation

The Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has stated that 100 high-risk COVID-19 patients refuse to go to isolation facilities.

Speaking at a press conference held on Tuesday, Sana Saleem from HEOC said 1,516 COVID-19 patients are currently in home isolation. Out of these, 1,400 people meet the criteria to remain in home isolation, said Sana.

However, some people who refuse to transfer to isolation facilities also remain in home isolation, noted Sana. This includes 100 high risk patients, and 11 people who may need to be admitted at isolation facilities if their health deteriorates further.

Sana said HPA is closely monitoring the health of those in home isolation, and that their situation is assessed daily. 350 patients who have been identified with a ‘Care Tag’ are also being monitored closely, she added. Some of them are in isolation facilities while others are in home isolation, said Sana.

‘Care Tag’ patients are those above the age of 65, those with chronic illnesses and children below the age of 10.
