Agreement signed to develop City Hotel in Kelaa

The Government has signed an agreement with a local construction company to develop a City Hotel in Ha. Kelaa, one of the most beautiful island destinations in the Maldives.

A ceremony was held at the Tourism Ministry on Tuesday to sign the project agreement between the ministry and FEDO Private Limited. Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom and Kelaa MP Ibrahim Shareef were in attendance at the ceremony.

Speaking regarding the project, the Communication Head of FEDO Private Limited, Anil Adam said the city hotel would have 200 beds upon completion within 30 months. The practical work of the project will begin after the land survey, Environment Impact Assessment, and detail drawings are completed, said Anil. The company hopes to begin construction mobilization within two to three months, he added.

Anil further noted that the project would create 200 jobs in the Kelaa region, and locals will be appointed for the posts. The company hopes to provide trainings to employees, said Anil.

The Kelaa city hotel will be developed over 864,414 square feet of land allocated for tourism purposes in Kelaa as well as surrounding beach area.
