The second batch of Sinopharm vaccines donated to the Maldives from the government of China are due to arrive in the Maldives late Tuesday, National carrier, Maldivian has said.
The Chinese government pledged to donate 100,000 doses of its homegrown Sinopharm vaccine in early February. The Chinese government later announced the donation of additional 100,000 doses in early March. The first batch of 100,000 doses arrived in the Maldives on March 24.
While the arrival of the second batch of vaccines is expected shortly, the Maldives is currently using Sinopharm vaccine for the second round of inoculation under its COVID-19 vaccine program. The Maldives Food and Drug Authority approved the vaccine earlier on March 15.
