A record number of COVID-19 cases were recorded in the Maldives on Friday.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), out of the 3,094 tests conducted, 319 people tested positive for COVID-19 over the past 24 hours. The archipelago's tally has reached 27,403 with the new cases.
HPA said 108 cases were recorded in the Greater Male' Region while 182 cases were recorded from the atolls. 21 cases were recorded in resorts while additional 8 cases were identified from industrial islands.
3,207 COVID-19 cases are active in the Maldives while 24,116 people have recovered from the infection. 71 people are hospitalized and receiving treatment.
The Maldives has recorded 71 COVID-19 deaths thus far, with four deaths recorded this month.
