Curfew extended; more movement restrictions in Male' area

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Monday extended the hourly duration of the curfew imposed on the Greater Male' Region due to the alarming COVID-19 situation in Male' City.

The 12-hour curfew has been extended by four hours to be in effect from 04:00 pm to 08:00 am. The change will come into effect on Wednesday, May 26. Only those who have to fulfill emergency needs will be allowed to go out during the curfew hours.

Arrangements have been changed such that a permit is required to be outside during non-curfew hours. Two permits will be issued per household, and one permit holder will be allowed outside between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm. The second permit holder will be allowed outside from 12:00 pm to 04:00 pm. Furthermore, travel between Male' and Hulhumale' as well as Male' and Villimale' will not be allowed.

1,417 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported on Monday, and a record of 13 daily deaths were also reported in the past 24 hours.
