Site mobilized for Gulhifalhu land reclamation

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that Gulhifalhu land reclamation and shore protection project site has been mobilized for land reclamation.

According to MTCC, the site was mobilized for additional works related to bridge landing point shore protection on 2nd June 2021. The project, valued at MVR 8.94 million, is to be completed within 55 days, said MTCC. 80,000 cubic meters of land will be dredged under the project.

The government had earlier announced that 1,200 land plot will be issued from Gulhifalhu. While the previous government had similar plans, the current government brought changes to the plans and made the decision to develop a commercial port in Gulhifalhu.

Male' City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu recently said changes have been brought to the government's plans for Gulhifalhu and that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be working with Male' City Council regarding Gulhifalhu development.
