Two additional arrests have been made in connection to a kidnapping incident that occurred in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi last week.
A young man was forced into a car by a masked group and severely beaten up on May 29. The victim, 29-year-old Hassan Ibrahim, sustained serious injuries in the incident, including a brain bleed. The police earlier on Monday arrested two local men aged 24 and 25 under a court order. They have been remanded into custody for 15 days. The vehicle into which the victim was forced was also seized.
The police said two additional arrests were made on Saturday. The arrests are of two local men aged 19 and 20.
The victim was transferred to ADK Hospital in capital Male' due to the seriousness of his condition. He underwent a major surgery at the hospital and remains in critical condition.
