A 13-year old who was reported as abducted earlier this week has been found dead.
According to Maldives Police Service, the authority received reports that a 13-year old had been kidnapped on Sunday. AVAS has learnt that the boy's murdered body was discovered in the beach area of Hulhumale Phase II around 02:30 am early Tuesday, while the police were canvassing the area in search of the boy.
The police said a 17-year old and 27-year old have been arrested in connection to the case. Both are locals.
The boy's body has been taken to state-run Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male'. The case is under investigation by the police. The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) and the Parliament are also looking into the case.
