The opposing Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) has launched a special campaign to increase its membership.
Speaking at a press conference held Saturday, the party's Spokesperson Heena Waleed said the party's women's wing was launching a new campaign under the name 'Maves PPM' with the aim to increase the party membership as well as activities of the party. The campaign will run until the end of August, and the party hopes to increase its membership to 10,000 members during the period.
The party conducted similar campaigns under the same name before the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the first such event being held since the global pandemic started. The campaign will be carried out in Male' and in the atolls. Team members will go door-to-door to gain support, said Heena.
