Air India to resume flights to the Maldives

Air India will be resuming scheduled flights to the Maldives on July 28.

India's flag carrier, Air India has transported 3,237 tourists to the Maldives thus far this year. Air India suspended its operations to the Maldives after the Maldives government temporarily halted issuing visas to South Asian travelers, following a surge in COVID-19 infections in the region. Prior to halting flights, four weekly flights were operated between India and Maldives.

The Maldives government has since resumed issuing visas to South Asian travelers from July 15 onwards.

In addition to Air India, India's IndoGo, SpiceJet and GoAir also operate flights to the Maldives. While 13 weekly flights are operated by Indigo, Spicejet flies between the two countries 14 times a week. Two weekly flights are operated by GoAir.
