President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Tuesday, called upon all authorities to encourage the administrations’ community-wide mass vaccination programme, describing the government-implemented covid control measures to have made positive progress towards achieving a “new normal”. He made these statements while speaking to his ministers at the Cabinet session held Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking at the session, President Solih stressed the practicality of mass inoculation in curbing the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Emphasising the need to complete vaccination for the entire eligible population of the Maldives, he strongly urged government institutions and subsidiaries to work towards this goal.
Cabinet Ministers deliberated on the governments’ efforts to curb the spread of the virus and overcoming the challenges faced in rebuilding the Maldives’ economy. Ministers also discussed ways to further improve the national vaccination programme.
A total of 271,552 individuals had completed both doses of their vaccination, while 323,568 individuals had received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccines as of 1 August 2021.
