Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has said recipients of the Hiyaa flats can access their apartments from August 17.
Speaking on a TV program on Sunday, HDC's Managing Director Suhail Ahmed said permanent electricity will be connected to the flats on August 17, and the flats will be ready for occupancy from then. Suhail said while some recipients have already signed the flat agreements and have received the keys to the apartments, they have been instructed not to use the lifts at this time, as only temporary power has been supplied to the flats which could cause electrical issues. However, the lifts are still used to access the flats to take measurements and other such work, said Suhail.
Agreement signing for the Hiyaa flats commenced on July 14. A three-month rent-free period has been granted to complete the pending finishing works of the apartments, starting September 1.
Suhail said some recipients have made requests to bring changes to the apartments, and the corporation is exploring if their requests for structural changes can be accommodated.
The commercial units of the towers will be built once the permanent electricity is connected to the towers. Therefore, services will be available from Phase II of Hulhumale' by the time the flats are occupied, said HDC.
