Pres inaugurates Omadhoo harbour, fulfills pledge

The government has fulfilled President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's pledge to construct a harbor in Th. Omadhoo.

The President officially inaugurated Omadhoo's harbor during his visit to Th. atoll on Wednesday. Speaking at the ceremony, President Solih said the people of Omadhoo wished for a solution to the difficulties faced in entering and exiting the island via boat. It is his pleasure to resolve the issues and fulfill the people's request by inaugurating the newly constructed harbor, said the president.

The president further said Omadhoo residents requested the government to address the power supply issues faced by the island. Noting that the government has resolved the electricity issues, President Solih said the electricity supplied by FENAKA utility company has been upgraded and that the island's powerhouse has been relocated. He also announced that work on developing the island's water and sewerage system as well as constructing a multi-purpose hall in the island's school will commence next year.

President Solih’s visit to Omadhoo Island is the third destination in his ongoing trip to seven islands of Thaa Atoll. The President is accompanied by cabinet ministers, senior officials from the President’s Office and a delegation of high-level government officials.
