Pres Solih inaugurates Meedhoo harbour

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday officially inaugurated the Meedhoo harbour in southernmost Addu City.

The President inaugurated the harbour at a special ceremony held at the harbour area. Addu MPs, council members, and island residents attended the ceremony.

The Meedhoo Harbour project was carried out by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). The project oversaw harbour dredging, construction of a sand fill breakwater, 115-meter revetment, and 496-meter quay wall. It also included the construction of pavements and light installation along the harbour area.

The President also toured the project site for the Hulhudhoo harbour, a project which is also carried out by MTCC. The project's scope includes harbour dredging, construction of a 114-meter breakwater, 624-meter revetment, and 742-meter quay wall. It also includes the construction of pavements and light installation along the harbour area.

The President and First Lady are currently in Addu City as part of a four-day trip to the Maldives' southern cities. Earlier on Monday, the President inaugurated the Drug Detoxification and Community Rehabilitation Centre in Hulhudhoo island.
