Maldives Police Service has commenced an awareness program for Hiyaa flat recipients.
The police said the Phase II in which the towers are located have been designated as a separate zone, and the police are actively patrolling the area. In order to raise awareness regarding )), a program targeted for flat owners has been commenced, and is being run by Hulhumale Neighbourhood Police and the Crime Prevention Unit.
Regarding the security at Hiyaa towers, Housing Development Corporation (HDC) said inspectors from the corporation are active at the site, and that CCTC camera will be installed very soon.
Flat recipients have been granted a three-month rent free period to complete finishing works of their apartments. As they race against the clock to finish the work and move in, work is ongoing at the towers around the clock, and expensive materials such as tiles, doors and lights, etc are being purchased in bulk and brought to the flat site. Several incidents where such goods have been stolen have been reported over the past week. Flat recipients have been complaining regarding lack of security at the site.
