Committee approves to appoint Samaau to HRCM

The Parliament's Gender and Human Rights Committee has approved to appoint Samaau Ahmed Najeeb to the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM).

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih last July forwarded 14 names for parliament consideration, out of which 12 candidates were interviewed by the committee. Three candidates did not attend the interview.

After the interview process, the committee approved to appoint Samaau to HRCM. Nine members on the committee voted in favour of appointing Samaau. Her name will now be forwarded to the Parliament floor for final voting.

Samaau has worked in the Human Rights field for over eight years. She obtained her Bachelors of Law from University of London, and earned her Masters degree in Human Rights Law from Melbourne Law School.
