Flats being constructed by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) under the Hiyaa housing project will be handed over to recipients early next year, the company has said.
Speaking at a ceremony held Friday night to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the company, MPL's CEO Shahid Ali said the construction of the towers being built for MPL employees under the Hiyaa project was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the work is now ongoing at a fast pace, and will reach completion early next year, said Shahid.
Shahid thanked MPL employees for their unwavering support and hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the company's financial status has improved, the salaries and allowances of employees have now been fully reinstated, he added.
Three fourteen-storey towers are being built by MPL for its staff. The towers include three-room apartments and one-room apartments. The construction of the towers commenced in 2018.
