Vice President Faisal Naseem visited and toured Velana International Airport on Sunday evening to check on the operations of the airport's institutions.
According to the President's Office, Vice President spoke with airport employees and inquired about their work and the obstacles they encounter on a daily basis. He also met with senior officials from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Maldives Customs Service, and Maldives Immigration during his tour. Senior officials briefed the Vice President on their issues and the efforts they are making to improve their services in order to accommodate the current surge in passenger numbers.
Vice President Faisal Naseem urged them to actively and diligently follow the guidelines from Health Protection Agency (HPA) to deal with the present COVID-19 situation. He also emphasised prioritising emergency situations that the airport must deal with.
The Vice President further stressed the importance of working together to achieve efficient results and meet the goal set for passengers arrivals in the Maldives.
During his visit, the Vice President had a tour of the Domestic terminal and talked with authorities that work there. He also went on a tour of the newly constructed CIP and VIP area, which is now undergoing finishing work.
