Bus services has commenced to Hulhumale' Phase II.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) added the Phase II bus route and began providing services on October 1. However, the construction of bus stops in Phase II are still ongoing.
The bus service to the Hiyaa flat area in Phase II will run between 5:45 am and 11:45 pm. However, bus services will not be available between 11:45 am and 1:45 pm on Fridays. The bus fare from Male' to Hulhumale' is MVR 5.
People began moving into private buildings in Phase II of the reclaimed suburbs in 2020. While over 60 families have now moved into social housing units in the Hiyaa towers, the number of people living in the area is expected to dramatically increase within the next three months. Bus services to the Hiyaa flat area was commenced after criticism was aimed at Hulhumale' Development Corporation (HDC) over delays in arranging bus service to the area.
