100kg drug case: Identities of the arrested released

The Police have publicized the profiles of those arrested on Wednesday with 100 kg of drugs.

Ten suspects aged between 19 and 61 were initially arrested, including two foreigners. However, the two main suspects were released by the court. Those that remain arrested have been identified as:

- Juman Mustafa (19), Beach Haven, N. Velidhoo
- Ibrahim Zaid Habeeb (25), Sosunge, Ga. Kolamaafushi
- Mohamed Ahmed (34), Janavareemaage, L. Kalaidhoo
- Ibrahim Sinan (24), Dear Friend, HDh. Kumundhoo
- Mohamed Hussain (61), Polaris, Dh. Bandidhoo
- Midhuhath Ibrahim (26), Dheyliyaage, Ga. Dhevvadhoo
- MD Rafeequl Islam (35), Bangladesh
- DM Mobin (24), Bangladesh

The police did not release the profiles of the two main suspects that were released by the court. The police said they will be appealing their release at a higher court.

Juman, Zaid and Mohamed Ahmed have been remanded in custody for 10 days while Sinan, Mohamed Hussain, Rafeequl Islam and DM Mobin were remanded in custody for 15 days. Midhuhath was remanded for five days.

The eight people were arrested in an anti narcotics operation carried out by the police. Several homes in Male' and Hulhumale', a safari and a speedboat were searched in the operation. The police said over 100 kg of drugs were found on an uninhabited island, ADh. Bodukaashi Huraa.
