Evidence that implicates Bangladeshi expatriate, Mohamed Salim in the murder of Mahmood Aboobakuru has been discovered.
Mahmood, 57, was found murdered inside a well in a house that belonged to his grandmother in Dhangethi on Friday afternoon. The police had been searching for him since Friday morning after his family reported him as missing after he failed to return home on Thursday night. He is believed to have been murdered on Thursday night.
The police arrested the expatriate, who lived in a house nearby as a caretaker of an elderly person, under a court order on Saturday. He has been remanded in custody for 15 days. Speaking to AVAS, an official from Dhangethi said evidence that implicates the migrant worker were discovered after police cordoned off and searched a large area of the island. The police made the man re-enact the events of the night of the murder, he added.
