Male' City Council and Addu City Council have agreed to collaborate and work together.
The Mayors of the two major cities and some city council members held discussions in capital Male' on Tuesday. Deputy Mayor of Male' City, Ahmed Nareesh, said the meeting was held at the invitation of Addu City Council.
The main discussions were around both cooperating towards achieving development goals for both cities. Thie two councils agreed to cooperate in introducing business transactions that generate profit for the councils and developing culture and heritage.
Furthermore, the councils agreed to work together to ensure that councils are empowered under the Decentralization Act. Addu City Mayor Hassan Nizar also extended an invitation to the Male' City Council to visit Addu City on an official trip.
