New Sri Lankan airline to commence operation to the Maldives

A new Sri Lankan airline is preparing to commence operation to the Maldives. The airline will become Sri Lanka's third international airline.

'Fly Lankan Asia' will operate as a regional carrier to Maldives, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Dubai. The airline will be using Boeing 737 flights that can accommodate 160 - 190 passengers.

Fly Lankan Asia will be launching their flights next January. The airline is also working on arranging special flights to Saudi Arabia. Citing the low-cost airline's CEO, Dr. Arosha Fernando, Sri Lankan media reports that the airline will primarily focus on cargo traffic.

As per the Tourism Ministry's official statistics, 34 airlines currently operate to the Maldives.
