The Health Ministry has said 20 additional ambulances will be brought to the Maldives within the next month.
The Health Ministry said it identified 96 islands that require ambulance services, and efforts are underway to procure ambulances.
Under an agreement signed between the ministry and the State Trading Organization (STO) in June this year, the ambulances are expected to arrive within six months from the date of the agreement. Twenty ambulances arrived in the Maldives and were sent to recipient islands on October 13. Twenty additional ambulances out of the remaining 76 vehicles will arrive this month, the ministry said.
The ministry has not disclosed the complete list of islands to which ambulances will be provided. However, it has been reported that N. Foddhhoo is among recipient islands.
