Agoda becomes Associate Partner for Maldives Border Miles

Renowned digital travel booking platform Agoda has signed on as an associate partner for the Maldives' border miles program.

An agreement was signed between Maldives Immigration and Agoda in a virtual ceremony held Thursday. The ceremony was attended by Agoda's CEO John Brown, Immigration Controller, Mohamed Ahmed Hussain, Tourism Ministry's Deputy Minister Dr. Naushad Mohamed, and senior officials from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Company (MMPRC), and the Tourism Ministry.

Under the agreement, travelers who use the border miles program can redeem exclusive saving points and get rewards by making their bookings through Agoda.

Speaking at the ceremony, Controller Mohamed Ahmed Hussain said the border miles program is receiving a better response than previously anticipated. The number of users will soon cross 50,000, he said.

Agoda's CEO, Brown, praised the border miles program and said the program is an innovative and revolutionary program launched by the Maldives. He assured that Agoda would provide support to enhance the program further.

The Maldives' reward program is the world's first border miles program. It rewards visitors to the Maldives with points for each visit. The three-tiered nationwide loyalty program is defined by a set variety of rewards, services, or benefits, which increase in value as members progress. The program currently has 26 partners.
