Captain Mohamed 'Senco' Shareef has been appointed as the Chairman of Maldives Ports Limited's board.
Shareef has been serving as a member of the MPL board since February 6, 2019. He is one of the most experienced seafarers in the maritime sector. From 1986 to 2005, he worked in the Maldives' national shipping company, MNSL, and from 2005 to 2011, he was a member of the Parliament.
Appointments to state-owned companies are made when the President's Office forwards names to the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB). In addition to Shareef, seven other members sit on the MPL board. The Chief Executive Officer of MPL is Shahid Ali.
