The main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party ( MDP) will be holding a primary to choose a candidate to contest for the vacant Komandoo constituency seat.
The Komandoo seat became vacant following the death of Komandoo MP Hussain Waheed on December 13. While a by-election will be held to fill the seat on February 5, 2022, MDP Saturday announced it would hold its primary on December 27 this year. The party said that those interested in contesting in the primary may submit their application before Monday.
The Elections Commission is accepting applications for the by-election until December 30.
