Maafushi placed under HPA monitoring

Guesthouse island, K. Maafushi, has been placed under the Health Protection Agency (HPA)'s monitoring mechanisms.

The island was placed under monitoring on Thursday after a positive case of COVID-19 was identified on the island. The development comes while many locals have booked guesthouses on the island to celebrate the new year. Although the island is under monitoring, tourists can continue visiting the island as the island population's majority has received the COVID-19 vaccination.

Maafushi was placed under monitoring twice before this year, once in April and later in November. Eighteen islands are currently under monitoring mechanisms.
