Male' City Council kicks off tree planting program in the capital

The Male' City Council has kicked off a program to plant 100,000 plants in Male' City. The program is part of the City Council's Strategic Action Plan.

The program was inaugurated by Senior Accounts Officer at the council, Abdulla Rameez. Rameez is the longest-serving employee at the council.

Under the program, 150 plants will be planted on Saturday. Over 65 percent of the plants are mango trees. Other plants include neem trees, jackfruit trees, and black plum trees. Some of the plants will be planted along main Majeedhee Magu.

The plants used under the scheme were procured from the atolls and aboard. The council is establishing a nursery near the Carnival area to hold the plants.
