Indian gov't releases mobilization advance for eight projects

The Indian Government has disbursed Mobilization Advance Payments for eight projects under the grant given to carry out High-Impact Community Development Projects in the Maldives.

The Indian Government issued MVR 5.49 million to commence the projects. MVR 36.5 million will be utilized for the eight projects carried out in Thaa, Laam, Haa Alif, Noonu, Kaafu, Alif Dhaalu, and Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. The projects include the installation of streetlights in Th. Thimarafushi and Th. Veymandoo, establishing an ice plant in L. Maabaidhoo, construction of a cultural center in ADh. Dhangethi, construction of the council building in N. Miladhoo, establishing an inclusive education support unit in GDh. Thinadhoo's Aboobakuru School, Ha. Dhidhhoo's Atoll Education Centre, and L. Gan's Ihaddhoo School, procuring sea ambulances for Maldives National Defense Force and upgrading Male' City's Olympus theatre.

These projects are undertaken under the umbrella MoU signed on March 17, 2019, for the 'Indian Grant Assistance for Implementation of High Impact Community Development Projects through local bodies'. Island councils are currently carrying out 12 projects across the Maldives, while 16 projects have reached completion.

Typical. None of these projects will be completed. It took more than 15 years to complete Hotel School. Likewise these projects will take decades to complete specially when the future of the current government is????
