The COVID Facility developed in Hulhumale' by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has been handed over to the government.
HDC was contracted to develop a COVID Facility in anticipation of future pandemic situations in mid-2021. The new COVID-19 facility was established at the Orange Hiyaa building, which HDC previously used as a distribution center. Some changes were brought to the building's structure to accommodate the change.
An official from HDC said the new facility was handed over to the government on December 5, 2021. As the Hulhumale' Hospital requested to bring additional changes, the corporation is currently undertaking the work and will reach completion by March this year, he said.
The facility is a medical center equipped to handle a pandemic situation, with oxygen pipes laid to carry oxygen to patient beds. The Health Ministry has said the facility would be managed and operated by the Hulhumale Hospital.
