The Maldives on Monday reported a record number of daily COVID-19 cases.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA)'s statistics, 7,681 samples were tested over the past 24 hours out of which 2,707 samples were positive. This includes 1,420 cases in the Greater Male' region. As per HPA, 4,273 samples were tested in the Male' area, and the current positivity rate for the area is 33 percent. An additional 761 cases were reported from the atolls, and 94 cases from operational resorts.
There are 15,721 active cases at this time, out of which 52 people are hospitalized. The Maldives has recorded 270 COVID-19 deaths to date.
