Male' City Council will be taking out a loan to develop a food court on the vacant lot east of Dharubaaruge in the capital, Male'.

The City Council wishes to develop a foodcourt under a street food concept, financed under a loan. During a council meeting held Monday, the matter was put to the vote, and all council members who took part in the vote voted in favor of taking a loan.

Male' Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said the food court would allow business opportunities for those seeking business prospects. He said that the council would seek approval for the loan from the Finance Ministry within this month.

The City Council plans to seek a loan from the bank in February and hand over the project to contractors in April. The Mayor said if things move along as planned, the food court will be ready for opening by September this year.
