A British tourist passed away at Velana International Airport (VIA) on Thursday as he waited to depart from the Maldives.
According to an official from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the tourist was due to fly back home after vacationing in the Maldives. He suffered a heart attack while in the smoking area of the airport.
The police are further investigating the cause of death. The MACL official said there is no indication that the cause of death was not of natural causes. The body has now been taken to a hospital.
