The body of a Maldivian student who went missing in Sri Lanka has been discovered murdered.
Ifham Naseer, 21, was residing in Dehiwala, Sri Lanka. His family said they last heard from him on Friday night and that he was wearing a black t-shirt at the time of disappearance.
According to the Sri Lankan media, two dead bodies were found in the Dehiwala beach area. Media reports said authorities were working to confirm the identities of the deceased. However, some newspapers report that one of the dead bodies was Ifham's. Both bodies had signs of significant injuries, the reports said.
Maldives Foreign Ministry confirmed reports that a Maldivian student had gone missing in Sri Lanka and said the ministry was working with the relevant Sri Lankan authorities. The ministry also confirmed that two dead bodies had been found, although they did not confirm if one of the two was Ifham's body.
The police have not commented on the matter.
