The Attorney General's Office has said several bills will be submitted at the Parliament during its current session.
A tweet published by the AG Office on Tuesday said that 36 bills would be sent to the Parliament this term. These include bills on the health and social sectors and national security. However, it does not include the bill seeking to criminalize the opposing Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)'s 'India Out' campaign.
Some of the bills that will be forwarded to the Parliament are:
- Amendments to the Drug Act
- Amendments to Anti-Gang Violence Law
- Amendments to the Anti-Terrorism Act
- Amendments to the Protection of the Religious Unity Among Maldivians Act
- Amendments to the Civil Service Act
- Bill on Maldives Media and Broadcasting Authority
- Bill on Family Act
- Bill on Companies Act
- Bill on waste management
During the last parliament session, the AG Office said it would submit many bills for parliament consideration. However, only a few were submitted to the Parliament.
