Island Aviation Service (IAS) has announced the airfare for flights operated between Velana International Airport (VIA) and Madivaru Regional Airport.

Madivaru Airport is managed and operated by IAS. Speaking to AVAS, the company's Deputy Managing Director Aishath Jennifer said a one-way ticket to Madivaru would cost MVR 1,029 while the fare for a round-trip is MVR 2,058.

Jennifer said scheduled flights would be operated every day of the week, starting next Friday.

Last month, employees were appointed to different positions at the airport in preparation for commencing operation.

The development of the regional airport and City Hotel on Madivaru was contracted to Kureddhu Holdings, a Crown and Champa Company subsidiary, on May 29, 2018. The airport was completed, and the first test flight was operated on December 25, 2021. Island Aviation signed the agreement to operate the airport on January 17.
