The COVID-19 positivity rate in the Greater Male' Area has fallen to 10 percent.
In January, at the peak of the current COVID-19 wave in the Maldives, the Greater Male' Area saw positivity rates up to 39 percent. The case numbers in Male' have been decreasing over the past weeks. According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), out of the 4,374 samples tested on Wednesday, 1,408 samples were from Male' City. Out of these, 146 samples tested positive, which is equivalent to 10 percent of total samples from Male'.
HPA said that out of the 1,056 cases recorded on Wednesday, 792 cases were from inhabited islands and 59 from resorts. While 15,706 cases are active across the Maldives, 26 people are admitted to healthcare facilities. The Maldives has recorded 289 COVID-19 deaths to date.
