The tax revenue received this month equals the amount collected last year, official statistics have shown.
Statistics published by the Finance Ministry show that the state received MVR 2.1 billion as tax by February 10. The state received an equal amount during the same period last year.
The highest revenue was generated as Goods and Services Tax. While MVR 1.1 billion was received as GST this year, the amount collected last year was MVR 845 million. MVR 805.6 million was collected as Tourism GST, while MVR 322.5 million was collected as General GST.
The statistics show a total of MVR 2.5 billion has been collected as revenue thus far this year. Last year, this amount was at MVR 2.4 billion during the same period.
