Foreign Ministry checks on Maldivian students in Russia, Belarus

The Foreign Ministry has said it is checking up on Maldivian students in Russia and Belarus.

According to the ministry, around 140 Maldivian students are in Grodno, Belarus, located 1,500 kilometers from Ukraine, where Russia has declared war.

A statement released by the students called on the government to ensure their safety. In response to their statement, the ministry said they are identifying the students' concerns and taking necessary steps.

Fifteen Maldivian students in Ukraine's Ivano-Frankivsk were evacuated to neighboring Hungary on Friday. They will return to the Maldives in two days. While nine Maldivians remain stranded in Ukraine, the government is tirelessly working to repatriate them, the ministry said.
