Speaker of the Parliament and former President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed will be traveling to Malta this evening.
Commencing Wednesday's Parliament sitting, Nasheed said he would be departing to Malta on Wednesday night with two other parliament members. He is traveling to the European nation at the invitation of Abdul Aziz Saud Al Babtain Cultural Foundation to attend the 'World Forum For Culture and Peace' organized by the foundation.
Nasheed will be accompanied by Hulhumale MP Ali Niyaz and Galolhu South MP Mikaeel Naseem.
The forum will begin on Thursday and conclude on Friday. Nasheed said he hoped to return to the Maldives on Sunday.
