Parliament Speaker and former President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed has said it is imperative to monitor the temperatures of Maldivian waters.
In a tweet posted on Friday, Nasheed said the temperatures of the Indian Ocean had increased dramatically, and it is, therefore, important to keep track of the temperatures of Maldivian waters. He also said the effects of global warming on the coral reefs are a cause for concern.
Nasheed is a major voice for climate action and advocates for environmental reform.
