President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed traveled to Maafushi Island in the Kaafu Atoll on Monday to participate in Eid al-Fitr celebrations. They visited Maafushi Island at the invitation of the members of the Island Council and Women's Development Committee. The First Couple was warmly welcomed by the island's residents upon their arrival.
In the afternoon, the President and the First Lady attended a special lunch hosted by the island residents. President Solih spent the late afternoon with the children at the "Maafahivathi" children's festival held as part of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
Over 1,800 people have traveled to Maafushi for the Eid holidays. All guesthouses and rooms for rent are fully booked for this period.
