MNDF ceases search for missing diver

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has ceased search efforts for missing diver Mohamed Saeed.

Saeed went diving off Fuvahmulah City to the city's Tiger Shark dive point around 2:30 pm on May 2. He was reported as missing around 3:36 pm. The Southern Area Command Coastguard Fourth Squadron has been canvassing the sea area, searching for Saeed for the past week. Over 2960 square miles were searched aerially, while 760 square miles were covered in a surface search by sea. Divers searched an area of over 1,000 meters in depth in their attempt to locate Saeed.

MNDF on Sunday said the search and rescue efforts have now been suspended.
