Drug operation carried out in resort, uninhabited island

The police this week conducted operations in a resort and uninhabited island to locate suspects linked to drug offenses.

The operations were executed at a resort in ADh. atoll, and Ga. Kunburu. The operation in Kunburu was carried out jointly by the Police Intelligence and Gemanafushi Police Station on May 9. Four packets containing substances believed to be drugs were found on the island. However, no arrests were made.

In the resort operation, three people at the resort's harbor were stopped and searched. Ninety cellophane pods containing what is believed to be drugs, alcohol, and two film canisters were found on them. A 22, 23, and a 24-year-old were arrested during the operation

The police said the cases would be further investigated and that charges would be raised where relevant.
