ICOM launches portal to facilitate easier access to info

The Office of the Information Commissioner Wednesday launched an online portal for requesting information under the Right to Information Act.

The Information Commissioner's Office said the portal is designed to make it easier for people to access information.

ICOM said requests for information could be submitted to government agencies through the portal. Requests for information submitted to government agencies can also be answered through the portal.

The portal also provides a system for submitting complaints or appeals to the Information Commissioner regarding the lack of cooperation from government agencies in providing the requested information.

The portal includes over 50 government agencies, including ministries, independent institutions, and local councils.

ICOM said other government agencies would also join the portal, and the number of agencies using the portal will continue to increase in the coming days.
