Submission of health insurance policy and medical report will now be required when applying for visas other than work visas and business visas.
Maldives Immigration said that effective from May 31, applicants for visas other than work visas and business visas, and visa extensions would be required to submit a medical report from a hospital or clinic approved by the Ministry of Health of the Maldives. The applicant must also submit a document from a licensed insurance agency that proves that the person has participated in an 'expatriate health insurance policy'.
The documents are not required to be submitted when applying for an extension of tourist visa and sponsorship declaration.
The requirement to submit a health insurance policy and medical report when applying for visas comes while monkeypox cases are being recorded in various parts of the world. Many have been expressing concern as the current visa application and extension requirements do not require submission of health insurance policy and medical report.
